| Recycling Data Graphing Resources | |||
| These resources will help students and teachers with the Recyling graphing project. It opens in a new window. | |||
| 1. Open Microsoft Excel | |||
| 2. Open Recycle_20062007.xls spreadsheet | |||
| 3. Add a new worksheet to the file. | |||
| a. Click on the Insert drop down menu at the top of the screen. | |||
| b. Select Worksheet from the options. | |||
| c. A new worksheet will automatically be added. | |||
| d. You can move the worksheet to be the last one by clicking and dragging it. | |||
| e. Rename the worksheet by double clicking on the tab and typing a new name. | |||

| 4. | Set up this worksheet for the summary data | ||
| a. Use column A for the grade levels. | |||
| b. Use a row for the weeks. Make sure to leave a place to sum each month's data. | |||

| 5. | Link the recycling data to the summary spreadsheet. | ||
| a. Click in the cell on the summary spreadsheet where you want the weekly total | |||
| b. Place an equal sign = | |||
| c. Click on the tab to go to the weekly spreadsheet you want. | |||
| d. Click on the cell you want to bring into the summary spreadsheet. | |||
| e. Hit enter | |||

| 6. | Continue this process until all data is in the summary table. | ||
| 7. | Create a graph of the summary data | ||
| a. Hide the weekly cells, leaving only the monthly totals | |||
| b. Click on the chart wizard button | |||
| c. Select column graph and click next | |||
| d. Select the entire summary table you just created. | |||
| e. For "Series in" select columns. Click Next. | |||
| f. Add a title and label the axes. Click Next. | |||
| g. Click Finish | |||
